Membership categories:

a) Full Members of DHS
This is open to individuals (deaf or hearing) aged 18 years and over

b) Young Person Members of DHS
This is open to individuals (deaf or hearing) aged 18 to 25 years.

c) Unwaged Person’s Membership
This is open to those who are not employed

d) Honorary Members
Honorary members may be appointed at the discretion of the said Executive Committee. Honorary members shall not be entitled to vote or to be elected to the Executive Committee.

Membership Benefits

Full members have the right to

  • Attend annual general meetings
  • Attend any special general meeting
  • Attend general meetings
  • Have full voting powers
  • Be eligible for election to the Executive Committee
  • Receive Deaf History Journal
  • Attend any DHS and BDHS events at discounted rates

Young Person Members have the right to

  • Attend annual general meetings
  • Attend any special general meeting
  • Attend general meetings
  • Receive Deaf History Journal
  • Attend any DHS and BDHS events at discounted rates
  • But they have no voting rights and are not eligible for election to the Executive Committee.

DHS membership year runs from April 1st to March 31st the following year.
